Music makes people feels things; emotions, positive and negative, depending on what they are listening to. Whatever you are going through, there’s a song that will match your mood. If your system sounds bad, it can leave you frustrated and uninspired. It’s important to have a good sound system. There are several things that should be wrong if your sound is bad. It could be your siamese cables, it could be your surge protector or usb 3 cables aren’t preforming the way they should. Here are a few ways that you can improve the sound of your home theater or sound system.
Take a Look at What You Have
If your system is sounding scratchy or jumpy, you’ll want to get the wires and cables. There’s a lot of cables connected to a home theater, depending on how you have it set up. Siamese cables can be touchy when they get older so make sure that you check those. Highspeed hdmi cables also need to be updated occasionally. Make sure you aren’t over amping them. You should even check the speaker grilles to make sure there is no foam rot or something like that inhibiting your sound. If everything is working fine and in good condition but the sound is still terrible, you might need to upgrade the entire system.
Check Your Digital to Analog Converter
In order to be able to play music on your phone or computer or tablet and hear it through speakers or headphones, digital music has to be converted into analog signals. If you want to have a better sound, you should connect an outboard DAC. You can also by receivers and amplifiers that have a DAC built in to them. That is probably your best bet for a good sound.
Reset Your Computer Settings
Or you phone or tablet or whatever your chosen music receptacle is. Settings is probably the biggest problem, closely followed by siamese cables and other connectors. The default setting on most Apple products will be 256 kilobytes per second. Try moving it up to 30 kbps and see if that makes a difference. If you are familiar with electronics, you can continue tweaking the settings but if not, it’s probably best to leave the rest of them the way they are. Or at least, remember what settings they were originally at.
Change the Receiver Settings
Many receivers offer a direct mode so that you can turn off anything that is not being used by your component’s circuitry. The idea is that this gives the cleanest signal through siamese cables or ethernet cables or whatever you are using to connect everything. There are other sound enhancement settings as well that you could play with.
Re-position the Speakers
No doubt, you’re home theater has a little room to itself, but if not, you might consider doing that. You can hear best when you are sitting in a direct line of the speakers. If they have to be turned away from you or you are behind them, you aren’t going to hear nearly as well as if you were sitting or standing in front of them. Place the speakers at the front of the room so you can’t go behind them.
Consider the Room’s Acoustics
This places a big part in your sound. You could have the best set up, equipment and cables around but if the acoustics are bad, then you’re out of luck. Try controlling the way the sound bounces off the surfaces by removing hard furniture and replacing it with soft ones that can absorb the sound waves. There are other things you can do to better your acoustics as well, you’ll just need to do a little research.
Install an Electrical Circuit
You already have one, of course, but this is referring to an electrical circuit that is specifically dedicated to your home theater. Sharing with other large electrical appliances can inhibit the amount of power you are getting to your home theater. If it can have its own circuit, you will cut out a lot of the noise and variables that translate into noise. It’ll be a cleaner source a power as well, making for a better and safer set up.
