In the last few years, we’ve seen an increased number of ways we can view content — movies and TV shows aren’t just restricted to our televisions anymore. We can look up anything on the Internet while on the go. But with all the different screens emerging, there’s also been a need to connect them. Your television can’t access the Internet, so how do you show your family the photo slideshow of your amazing trip to Iceland? How can you DJ your party with the music of your choice, right from your phone? Cell phone cables and other cables like a highspeed HDMI cable or USB cable can help connect all our devices as we need them.
What is an HDMI Cable?
HDMI stands for “high-definition multimedia interface.” It’s a type of cable that connects video or audio data from one source to another. For example, many people hook in their laptops to their television using an HDMI cable in order to watch movies or TV shows via Internet streaming. They can also use HDMI cables to play music from their computers or other devices.
There are five different types of HDMI cables — three that belong to the standard HDMI cable category and two that are part of the highspeed HDMI cable section. HDMI standard, HDMI standard with Ethernet, and HDMI standard automotive are the standard types. There’s also a regular highspeed HDMI cable and one that comes with Ethernet. The highspeed HDMI cables can transmit 3D, 1080p, 4K and deep color data — great for streaming more sophisticated material.
How Do I Use an HDMI Cable?
HDMI cables aren’t really that difficult to use. Most devices have a clearly marked space where the cable is supposed to go — the larger end goes into the TV and the USB cable goes into your other device. You usually have to change the input selection to make your TV HDMI compatible, but once you’ve selected the correct input, your devices will sync up and you’ll be able to watch whatever you want!
How Expensive Are They? Does It Matter How Long They Are?
Even better, HDMI cable aren’t that expensive. Even if you get a 75 HDMI cable or a 100 ft HDMI cable, the cost doesn’t vary that much. Naturally, of course, the highspeed HDMI cables will be pricier. Don’t believe the myth that it costs as much as $50 to buy an HDMI cable — there are certainly places where you can get one for much cheaper. The length also doesn’t matter in terms of good audio or video quality. The only time it might matter is if you’re covering great distances with it. If you’re using a cable that is over 100 feet in length, make sure you have the right HDMI cable that’s designed for exactly that purpose.
An HDMI cable is incredibly useful to have around your house, apartment, or dorm room. You’ll be able to show your friends that new hilarious YouTube video, show your new niece or nephew on the big screen, and play the perfect tunes for your party with ease now.
