Did you know that over a third of mobile Internet users say that they consider the time spent on a poorly optimized site to be a total waste of their time? In fact, most users (three-quarters) of mobile devices want both to be able to find exactly what they’re looking for on a website after about two clicks, as well as the ability to search the site. This is exactly why clean, simple web design that is also search engine optimized is key to developing a social media strategy.
According to the latest Pew Internet and American Life Project study, two thirds of Americans use their cell phones to surf the Internet and check their email, which is double the amount of people from 2009. They also say that 21% of Americans use their phones to access the Internet even more than their laptops or desk tops. This shows that not only will mobile Internet usage continue to grow, but also that it’s poised to become a dominant form of communication. If businesses leave mobile web design when developing a social media strategy, they’ll lose out on a severe chunk of business.
Ease and simplicity are key to not only professional web development, but also to developing a social media strategy. Users know what they’re looking for, and expect websites to articulate this information clearly. Without a mobile site, many Internet users will turn away from a business. This makes mobile web platforms key to developing a social media strategy. If you have any questions about developing a social media strategy, feel free to ask in the comments!
